Let's Have Some Answers

We have been posting your responses and like you we now need answers. I don’t know if President Futhey or General President Sullivan will answer us, but we are going to forward questions to their offices to see if we can get answers to the real questions we have.

Not the questions they want to answer.

It seems to me that everything was fine until Futhey got elected. Should I believe the UTU website. Was the merger done in secret? Did Paul Thompson lie? If the UTU president did mislead his membership, how come the new President doesn't fix it?

I met Mike Sullivan the other night at a social function. I also was in New Orleans during the UTU state of the union presentation, unlike Mike Futhey in New Orleans, Mike Sullivan never said a bad word about Mike Futhey during his presentation. He said that he needed to talk to Mike Futhey and get this merger on the right track. I think Mike Sullivan is right. I believe Mike Sullivan is an honest man and the UTU needs to work with him not against him.

I met Mike Sullivan. He inspired me with honest conversation. He also did not judge or criticize the UTU. He made a point that we must come together for the members. He always made reference to the members. I support the merger. I believe it will be good for us. Sheet metal has a 50 million dollar strike fund for the members. I have been on strike and its looks like we are going again. I hope we can join up with Smart before its too late.

As a railroader and SMWIA member for 23 years, I can't believe that the UTU International would remove 7 of their officers because they disagreed with the International President. What a shame.
